Opening Nights in Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban are OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and are not by invitation only. A limited number of tickets at R75 are available from the cinemas and Computicket.

These Opening Night tickets include the Opening Night Parties where Absolut cocktails will be served:

  • Johannesburg Thursday 6th March at Therapy.
  • Cape Town Saturday 15th March at Café Bardelli / Cohibar.
  • Durban on Thursday 27th March at Bean Bag Bohemia.

    All other screenings in all cities are R30 with certain exceptions.

    Tickets for the Work in Progress screening of Proteus are R100 each, available from the Festival Organisers who will be in the foyers. The Directors, Cast members and Producers will attend the screenings where possible. A cocktail function will precede the screenings.

    Please ask the Organisers on how to obtain an access voucher to screenings in all 3 cities of both Metrosexuality and Tipping the Velvet.

    The usual concessions for Movie Club and Discovery Vitality members apply. Movie Club members get two credits for each Festival ticket they buy but, please note, that Movie Club and Discovery Vitality credits may not be used in exchange for Gay & Lesbian Film Festival tickets. Sorry, no half-price Tuesday's apply during the Festival.

    Advance bookings may be made online at, or at the cinema venues and at any Computicket outlet. Please note that neither Cinema Nouveau nor Computicket accept cheques. Cinema Nouveau accepts only Visa and MasterCard. Telephone bookings may be made through Computicket against any valid credit card.

    Out In Africa is the producer of the South African Gay & Lesbian Film Festival and functions independently of Cinema Nouveau screened by Nedbank, Ster-Kinekor and Computicket. Out In Africa reserves the right to cancel or reschedule screenings without prior notice. It is a rare circumstance, but please understand that any film may be delayed in transit and that some scenarios are beyond our control.
